Google Website Optimizer

Google Website Optimizer (GWO) provides a testing environment where varying elements of an advert, web page or website can be tested against alternatives to find the most effective combination:-

  • Website split-testing variableheadline copy
  • body copy
  • image content
  • image size, position
  • colour of page text, headlines and/or background

A/B and multi-variate testing

To use Google Website Optimizer all that is required is a Google account (you may already have one for Google Analytics or one of the other services provided by Google). If you do not already have an account you can get one here.

Google Website Optimizer enables website owners to test any or all of the above elements using either A/B or Multi-Variate testing options and provides valuable data to help maximize click-through rates and conversions. An introduction Flash demo can be seen at the link below:-

Using GWO requires some knowledge of html coding to be able to add the required javascript code to test pages and conversion pages but the information gathered is worth the effort taken.
