Google and Bing come clean on Social Media (SM)

It has long been thought that with the addition of social media features and search options from both Google and Bing that social activity, Tweets and FB posts and commenting were being used, to some extent, in both of their search algoriths. But, until now that was all it was.

However, from a series of questions asked by Danny Sullivan of SEL (Search Engine Land), both have come clean and admitted they are using them in different ways to varying degrees.

Google experimenting with real-time search engine

To be honest it was launched last December but has been getting trialled and you can now try it out for yourself.

It's described as combining features from both Twitter and Facebook offering updates similar to Twitter and conversations like Facebook.

Advertising Association confirm regulation changes may be in place by end of year

Can tweeting be good for your SEO?

The jury may still be out for many potential tweeters on its use or benefit for business development and promotion but there may be other benefits not yet realised. Many companies both large and small are experiencing benefits when using Twitter in terms of brand and customer relationship building.

Is the jury still out on Twitter?

Twitter is only one of a number of 'social' sites and the main reason for creating a Twitter account was to test whether it could be useful or just hype.
